Andy Kuruzar creates through Giclee

It's always amazing to think about technology and what it has done to so many industries.  For oil painter, Andy Kuruzar, technology has allowed his art to become more available and affordable to the general public.

Giclee is a printmaking process used to make reproductions of a photograph of a painting; the printer can produce a very wide range of colors resulting in prints that are of very high quality.  These prints will last as long as a photograph.

Kuruzar started using the art of Giclee as a way to keep abreast with the rise in photography and printmaking artists.  Oil paintings take at least a month to create and the cost to sell one (due to labor and materials alone) makes it more difficult to make a living as an artist.  With giclee, Andy is still able to create an original piece of art, and then through a very high end printer, make reproductions of the piece for the public to enjoy.

Andy covers a variety of subject matter in his pieces.  These range from beautiful landscapes to UFO abstracts to fish that he has caught and photographed.  His landscapes evoke a feeling of serenity and peace, making the viewer wish that they could be there.  The abstracts Andy creates offer up an opportunity to think and explore the themes and topics that he covers.

Andy's work will be shown in a one-night art reception at The Brink on Friday, July 21st.  Enjoy cocktail hour from 5pm-7pm with the wonderful art of Andy Kuruzar joined with acoustic performance by Nick Venturella!  The Brink is located at 701 E. Washington in the same complex as High Noon Saloon and The Brass Ring.
