Warm Rain in Mexico will charm readers
Chappell takes his inspiration for both short stories and illustration from his time spent in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico during a week's vacation. With wood blocks and pen in hand, Chappell created the charming collection of short stories, 'Warm Rain in Mexico'. The book consists of ten short stories of his week in Puerto Vallarta. Each story is coupled with a wood block print that was designed during the trip. After returning to Madison, Chappell then took the images he had drawn on the wood blocks and transformed them into prints. Each book is signed and numbered with a limited edition (500 copies). 'Warm Rain in Mexico' is not the ideals of a romantic tourist but rather the romance of everyday life itself. Steve Chappell weaves a collection of short stories portraying the beauty and normalcy of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The stories are informative (did you know that the VW Beatles stopped rolling off the assembly line in Puebla, Mexico in 2003?) while are others offer much amusement as we read about the "jealous" fly or the "fantastic" arches. 'Warm Rain' not only provides literary charm in each of the ten stories, but offers up a beautiful portrayal of Chappel's wood block print art. Color breaks through the black and white contrast of the images adding warmth to each piece. Steve Chappell successfully combines two art forms in the creation of 'Warm Rain in Mexico'. The book is a joy to read and proves to be a great collection piece of art for wood block print lovers. The charm of 'Warm Rain' can be captured in Chappell's last words. "Mexico is Magical. The rain in Mexico is magical. And Warm." For more information, or to purchase 'Warm Rain in Mexico', please visit Rolling Tire Productions
